All About Me

Waddell Investigations is led by Cheryl Waddell, a highly respected and experienced investigator with a distinguished 26-year career with the Portland Police Bureau. During her tenure, Cheryl served as a Detective, Acting Sergeant, Acting Lieutenant  and a US Customs Task Force Officer, gaining invaluable expertise in complex criminal investigations and effective evidence gathering.

As a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Cheryl possesses specialized knowledge and meticulous skills in detecting, investigating, and preventing financial fraud, embezzlement, and other white-collar crimes. Her commitment to truth and justice is evident in every case she undertakes.

Cheryl's expertise also extends to intellectual property enforcement, where she previously led a dedicated IP Task Force. She is adept at safeguarding brands, identifying counterfeiting, and addressing trademark and copyright infringements with strategic precision. She has received the Anti-Counterfeiting and Brand Protection Professional Certificate from Michigan State University; Center for Anti-Counterfeiting and Product Protection.

 

​Further enhancing her capabilities, Cheryl is certified in OSINT (Open Source Intelligence), enabling comprehensive and discreet background investigations crucial for due diligence, pre-employment screening, and personal matters. She has received a Crime and Intelligence Analysis Certificate from California State University Fullerton Extension and International Programs.

Beyond her core investigative specializations, Cheryl brings a unique skill set from her diverse background:

  • Proven Grant Management: She has successfully researched, written, and managed four competitive Federal grants, securing over $1 Million in combined funding. This demonstrates exceptional research, analytical, and project management capabilities, directly applicable to intricate investigations.

  • Leadership & Community Involvement: Her roles as a Peer Support Member and Police Cadet Advisor highlight her dedication to community and her ability to lead and support individuals through challenging situations.

  • Professional Recognition: Cheryl has served as the Secretary for the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators (IAFCI) Northwest Chapter, reflecting her ongoing commitment to professional excellence and leadership within the financial crimes community.
